Lucky Tackle Box: Canceled

Over the past year, I’ve tried multiple different monthly subscription services in regards to tackle, including Mystery Tackle Box, Lucky Tackle Box, and Postfly. Each has their pros and cons, but I decided to permanently cancel my Lucky Tackle Box subscription, and here’s why.

First, I’ve found that LTB just doesn’t provide quality products like Mystery Tackle Box does, its direct competitor. In November, the box had all baits that I’d never even heard of and, more concerning, the highest quality product in the box was garbage. It was a Japanese crankbait that had poor craftsmanship and hooks that couldn’t pierce a piece of paper. I was not only disappointed, but annoyed.

In the month of December, I received another LTB box with baits I’d never heard of, except for a pack of Trapper hooks. Not only this, but it didn’t come with a sticker (I look forward to my stickers!). Next, there was a printed piece of paper, saying that they put a different package of baits in the box then what was mentioned in the pamphlet. It was literally just a white piece of paper with 2 sentences on it that you or I could have printed at home. I also received a LTB calendar that contained nothing but LTB promotional pictures. Now, I don’t know about you, but I have high standards for my calendars, and this thing immediately went into the trash.

With all of this combined, I decided that it was time to cancel permanently. I went on to the website to cancel, logged into my account, only to find that I had to contact the company by email to cancel my subscription. This annoyed me, because ALL of their competitors have the ability to cancel subscriptions online, with the click of a button. Not LTB, though. I sent them an email on December 26th, hoping that I could cancel by before my next box was paid for, which occurs monthly on the 27th. I knew that this was doubtful, however.

Well, I still got charged, and my box is currently in the mail. I received an email 7 days later that my subscription was canceled. Now, yes, I did send my email during the holiday season, but something couldn’t have been done sooner?

And these are the big reasons as to why I canceled my Lucky Tackle Box subscription. I gave them many chances to redeem themselves, but between poor customer service and an overall not-great product, I was forced to cancel. I’ll more than likely still review this month’s box, but only if it has some quality items in it, otherwise I won’t bother.
